EMDR

EMDR is a powerful and effective psychotherapy that works with trauma , depression, anxiety and other difficulties that may be getting in the way of the life you want. It understands that current symptoms are often related to past events, big and / or small and that by “processing” these we are able to move on with our lives.

The active “trauma” work uses stimulation, such as eye movements, that activate your brain’s natural healing abilities and allows you to put whatever is distressing behind you. It decreases / neutralises negative emotions, body sensations, thoughts and images. It typically involves processing past memories and events before working on current triggers that disturb you now, then how you would like to be in the future. It can be both short term and longer term therapy depending on a number of factors we would discuss in your assessment sessions.
